Rec U6 – U10
Age Group U6
- 4 v 4 with no goalie (or 3 v 3 with no goalie).
- Four 10 minute quarters with 1-2 minutes between and 5 minute halftime.
- No heading by any player.
- Coach can be on the field to direct play.
- It is encouraged that parents sit opposite of the players at this division.
Equipment Needs
Size 3 soccer ball, shin guards, something to drink, and soccer cleats (cleats are optional, but recommended).
Team jersey, black shorts and socks are required on game days.
Age Group U8
- Parents must sit opposite of players at this division.
- There will be 4 x 10 minute quarters (there is a 5 minute half time intermission).
- There will be 4 players on the field at a time (create a rotation for your substitutions. I usually sub every 5 minutes). WE WILL EVALUATE THE 4PLAYERS AND MAY INCREASE TO 5.
- There is no goal keepers at U8. We want to encourage players to play defense but not stand in front of the goal when the ball is on the other side of the field.
- Corner kicks are in play.
- Throw ins are in play. We want to teach the children to make sure the ball goes completely over their head and they keep both feet down. In the event, a foot comes up we want to reinforce the good habit. 🙂
- GOAL KICKS are in play. THE DEFENSIVE TEAM MUST RETREAT TO THE MIDFIELD LINE BEFORE THE KICK IS IN PLAY. ONCE THE BALL IS IN PLAY, THE DEFENSIVE TEAM MAY GO FOR IT.
- We do not keep score at this division. (We want to build fun and enjoyment. Rather than winning at all costs)
- No heading by any player.
- There are Referees for this division. Coaches may still be on the field but the referee makes the final decision for the game following the Laws of the Game.
Each player must have the following items for practice and games.
Size 3 soccer ball, shin guards, something to drink, and soccer cleats (cleats are optional, but recommended).

- Kids tend to fall sometimes in U8, if it didn’t look like a complete out of control play “yell play on” but be sure to help the kid up. If a kid falls in a group and the ball is present stop the play ASAP so no one gets hurt. It will be a free kick for the team that didn’t commit the foul or for the team that had possession if it wasn’t a foul.
- After each goal it will be a restart of the game with a kick off. The ball must move before another person from their team touches it.
- Kids are not allowed to use their arms if you see someone extending their arms warn them once out loud so everyone can hear you. The second time call a foul. If they continue to do it request to the coach to sub them out ASAP and talk with them.
- If kids touch the ball with their hand mention to them to keep their hands down. If it is obvious they did it stop the play and award a free kick to the opposing team.
- No heading. Heading will be award an indirect kick to the opposing team.
